Building for the Long Run

Growth isn’t just about speed, it’s about intention.

Choosing a Different Path

In the startup world, growth is often measured by speed. Headcount doubles, markets expand overnight, and the word hypergrowth becomes a marker of progress.

At Carly, we chose a different path. Twelve years after entering the market, we are a team of around seventy people. Not because we couldn’t grow faster, but because we believe that companies should be built to last. For us, growth has never been about chasing numbers or keeping up with industry trends. It has always been about building something stable, meaningful, and sustainable for the people who are part of it.

From the very beginning, we made a conscious decision: every hiring decision would be a long-term commitment. We don’t hire because other companies are scaling quickly. We don’t open roles simply because a budget allows it. And we don’t build teams around short-term momentum. When someone joins Carly, we’re not thinking in quarters. We’re thinking in years.

That mindset shapes nearly everything we do. It influences how we plan our teams, how we allocate resources, and how we define success as a company. Most importantly, it shapes how secure our people feel when they come to work every day. Because stability is not just a financial strategy, it is a cultural one.

Stability isn’t just a financial decision for us, it’s a cultural one. It’s what allows people to feel safe, contribute openly, and grow together.

Stability Creates Safety

In twelve years, we’ve never faced a moment where financial pressure forced us to part ways with someone. It’s a milestone we’re proud of, not because it sounds impressive externally, but because it reflects something deeply important internally: responsibility. Hiring someone means committing to them.

Before opening a role, we ask ourselves difficult questions. Is this position truly needed in the long term? Will it still create value years from now? Are we ready to commit to this person beyond short-term growth targets? If the answers aren’t clear, we wait.

That discipline allows us to offer something that has become increasingly rare in fast-moving industries: continuity. And continuity builds trust. When people feel confident that their role isn’t temporary or experimental, something powerful happens. They focus less on protecting their position and more on doing meaningful work. They collaborate more openly. They share ideas more freely. They invest in the team around them. In other words, they feel safe.

Psychological safety is often talked about as a leadership principle, but for us it is closely connected to stability. When people know their job is not constantly at risk due to sudden strategic pivots or aggressive scaling cycles, they can fully engage with their work and with each other. That sense of security is one of the reasons we see strong retention across our team. Many people who join Carly choose to stay for years, growing alongside the company as it evolves.

Growing People, Not Just the Company

Growth is an important part of our culture. We believe that building a sustainable company also means developing the people inside it. Skills evolve, technologies change, and markets shift, but when people have the opportunity to learn and grow, they grow with the company itself.

That’s why we focus not only on hiring the right people, but on supporting their development once they’re here. Careers at Carly are not designed as short stops along the way; they are journeys that unfold over time. Of course, hiring for the long run requires looking beyond technical skills alone. Skills can be learned. Tools change. Entire industries evolve. But mindset, values, and the way someone collaborates with others are far more enduring. That’s why cultural alignment plays such an important role in how we build our teams.

We look for people who believe in our vision, who take ownership of their work, and who thrive in a collaborative environment. People who think long term and who want to contribute to something that grows steadily rather than explosively. Because when the culture is strong, growth becomes sustainable. And sustainable growth has never meant standing still.

Evolving with Intention

Over the years, Carly has evolved in many ways. Our product has expanded, our markets have grown and our strategy has developed alongside new opportunities. We moved from a purely B2C model to serving both consumers and enterprises. We entered new countries, built new capabilities, and continuously refined our technology. But throughout all these changes, our core principles have remained consistent.

We don’t reinvent ourselves every year. We improve. We adapt. We expand thoughtfully. That consistency creates clarity for the people who work here. Teams understand where the company is heading. Strategies don’t swing dramatically from one direction to another. And our values are not rewritten depending on the latest trend in the startup ecosystem.

In uncertain markets, this kind of stability becomes a real advantage. It allows us to make calm decisions. To invest sustainably in our product. To protect our teams during challenging moments. And to prioritize long-term quality over short-term wins.

When someone joins Carly, they’re not entering a short-term experiment. They’re joining a company that plans ahead. A company that hires carefully, develops its people, and builds its culture intentionally.

Twelve years. Around seventy people. And countless lessons along the way. What makes us proud isn’t our size, but the intention and discipline behind how we’ve grown. Behind every new role, every hire, and every team we build lies a simple belief: If we build carefully, we build to last.
